Carpool Karaoke, Grammys edition: The Late Late Show’s James Corden to host Grammy Awards

There’s likely an epic edition of Carpool Karaoke in the works, with late-night TV host James Corden announced Tuesday as host of the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Corden, host of the CBS program The Late Late Show, will make his debut as master of ceremonies for the 59th edition of the annual American musical awards show.

The show takes place in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017.

“I am truly honoured to be hosting the Grammys next year,” Corden said in a statement.

“It’s the biggest, most prestigious award show in music and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such an incredible night.”

The exuberant Emmy, Tony and BAFTA award-winning actor, writer, producer and host is known for popular sketches, most notably Carpool Karaoke, that rope in celebrity guests visiting his program for wacky performances.

British-born Corden has hosted the U.K.’s Brit Awards five times and served as emcee of the Tony Awards earlier this year.

“He’s got big shoes to fill after the magnificent run we had with LL Cool J, but James is a commanding, dynamic showman who is perfect to host the Grammy Awards,” said Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow.

Nominees for the 59th Grammy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
