India bowl first in 1st New Zealand ODI

DHARAMSALA (INDIA) (AFP) – 

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl in the first one-day international against New Zealand in Dharamsala on Sunday.

The hosts, who last week completed a 3-0 whitewash in a Test series against the Black Caps, have handed allrounder Hardik Pandya his ODI debut.

New Zealand have been bolstered by the return of paceman Tim Southee and big-hitting batsman Corey Anderson.

Skipper Kane Williamson, who decided to go with three quicks and two spinners in the starting lineup, has rested pacers Trent Boult and Matt Henry for the match in the picturesque Himalayan hill station.
