Justin Bieber belts out Beatles, Beethoven during impromptu Toronto pub visit

Dale McDermott said it took him a few moments to realize who had just walked into the bar where he works as a host.

“He came in, and at first, I didn’t realize,” he told CBC News. “Then I thought, oh, that’s actually Justin Bieber. It was surreal.”

McDermott works at Fifth Pubhouse, located at Richmond Street West east of John Street.

“We’re a sports bar, and the Raptors game was on. He came in to watch the game,” he said.

The two got to talking, and Bieber asked McDermott about his home in Dublin, Ireland. “He was very friendly and kind,” said McDermott.

Later, Bieber spied a grand piano and asked to play a few songs.

A few posted YouTube videos captured the impromptu performance.

According to a news release put out by the pub, Bieber played a number of songs including the Beatles Let it Be and his own song Sorry. He also played a few bars of Beethoven’s Fur Elise.

Pub owner Oliver Geddes says the Canadian pop star was gracious to both staff and customers at the entertainment district bar.

McDermott took to Twitter to share his excitement over having met the Canadian celebrity just a few weeks after moving to Toronto.
