Justin Bieber cools head, scores goal playing with Manchester hockey club

Looks like Justin Bieber needed some ice time to clear his head after losing his cool during the U.K. leg of his Purpose tour.

The Stratford, Ont.-raised pop sensation strapped on his skates with England’s Manchester Storm ice hockey club Tuesday, days after storming off the stage in Manchester and calling an audience “obnoxious” in Birmingham.

Despite his cranky reputation, and increasingly contentious relationship with his fans, the Storm’s general manager says the Sorry singer left his attitude in the locker room and was a pleasure to have on the ice.

“He got some bad press whilst in Manchester,” writes Neil Russell, on the team’s website, “but I have to say, he was a very polite, mannerly and respectful to us all during his visit.”

Not only was the 22-year-old celebrity on his best behaviour, the Toronto Maple Leafs fan also surprised the team with his talents on the ice when he handily slipped the puck between the posts.

“I think we were all super impressed by his skating ability and skills,” said Storm captain Trevor Johnson. “The guys all treated him like a normal person, and I think he responded well to that.”

After proving that he could be a valuable team player, Bieber took the team out for a few drinks after the session —playing darts and shooting the breeze like a regular bloke.

Stardom wearing on singer

Stardom appears to be wearing on the singer, and his behaviour in public has frequently overshadowed his music.

In the summer, he shuttered his Instagram account saying that he was being trolled over images he posted with his girlfriend.

Bieber also scrapped all of his paid tour meet-and-greets earlier this year, reasoning that the conveyor-belt of conversations and photos with fans left him feeling “exhausted to the point of depression.”

Bieber’s sold-out Purpose tour continues Thursday in Glasgow before wrapping in Costa Rica in April, giving ample opportunity for more run-ins with fans.
